 PEER TEACHING

Peer teaching is one of the best ways to master a particular subject. From this peer teaching I also understand that, through the direct interaction between students, peer teaching promotes active learning as well as participation within themselves. Student teachers enhance their own depth of knowledge in the topic by instructing others.

The peer teaching ended on 5 march,2021. This week I thought the lessons from the VIII standard S C E R T biology text book. I taught various lessons. I used different models for teaching such inquiry training model and concept attainment model. I prepared various learning aids for the lessons. I taught them confidently. I improved my language ability and time management. It was very good experience for us.

After the online teaching practice for students the peer teaching started on 24 february,2021. I thought the lessons from the VIII standard S C E R T biology text book. I taught continuous lessons from the unit on regularly. I prepared various learning aids. I presented videos, animations, PowerPoint presentations and images. I used various introductory methods. I tried to make my class more effective and interesting. I improved my presentation skills and language fluency. I watched the classes had taken by my peers. Peer teaching enhance our reflective thinking.

                      ONLINE TEACHING PRACTICE 

In this week (15/02/2021 - 19/02/201) the class was started at the 10.30am. Students were ready with that science textbook and notebook. I took the attendance of the class.  I used various methods to introduce the lesson such as showing images, asking questions related to their previous knowledge etc. I enquired them about the follow up activities.  I asked some questions related to the previous knowledge and some thought provoking questions. In the classes I used various Teaching learning aids such as video, power point, pictures etc.  I used different teaching aids and gave various activities for the students such as complete the following table. The students were very active and attentive in the class. The students were very interested in doing the activities and they completed all of it within the time. I conclude the lesson by summarizing the main points or presenting the video. At the end of each class I asked review questions and gave a follow up activity. I improved my learning efficiency and I could manage the class very well.

                            ONLINE TEACHING PRACTICE 

In this week (8/02/2021 - 12/02/201) I took classes for 8th standard students. The class was started at the 10.30am. I entered the class room before the 15 minutes. students were ready with that science textbook and notebook. I took the attendance of the class. The students were very active and attentive in the class. I used various methods to introduce the lesson such as showing images, asking questions related to their previous knowledge etc. I enquired them about the follow up activities.  I asked some questions related to the previous knowledge and some thought provoking questions. In the classes I used various Teaching learning aids such as video, power point, pictures etc.  I used different teaching aids and gave various activities for the students such as complete the following table. The students were very interested in doing the activities and they completed all of it within the time. I conclude the lesson by summarizing the main points or presenting the video. At the end of each class I asked review questions and gave a follow up activity. I could manage the class very well. My classes were observed by teacher educators of Christ nagar college of education. They gave supporting comments and pointed the corrections needed. The online teaching practice was a great experience for me. I could more explore the various technological methods and I believed that it would be a stepping stone to be a good techno pedagogue. I conducted the diagnostic test on 9/02/2021. Then I find out the difficult learning points for the students. I planned for remedial teaching and at the last day of the week I gave remedial teaching.

 ONLINE TEACHING PRACTICE 2020

Teaching practice is a key component of the undergraduate teacher training program. It is during this period that the student teacher gets to translate the skills and theory learnt into reality through actual classroom teaching. Teaching practice is the vital component of teacher education and training because it provides student teachers with an opportunity to learn from experience in the workplace. Due to the Covid pandemic situation the teaching practice was conducted through the various online platforms. Kerala university suggested conducting the 15 days of teaching practice with students by online mode. Our college arranged different schools for us to teaching practice. I had been allotted to the St. Thomas H S S Poonthura.

The online teaching practice was started on 1 February 2021 . The class was conducted trough the online platform Google Meet. The class were started at the 10.30am. I create a meeting google meet and share ID to the WhatsApp group of the students' class. I took classes for 8th standard students. In this week, from Monday to Friday I taught them one lesson for each day. In all classes the students were ready with that science textbook and notebook. Firstly I took the attendance of the class. The students were very active and attentive in the class.  I asked some questions related to the previous knowledge. I introduced the lessons in various ways such as by asking questions, showing images etc. I presented  videos about lessons, those were  very interesting for the students.  but I felt a little bit difficult in presenting the video in sometimes. I presented the main points in the PowerPoint presentation on every class.  I used different teaching aids and gave various activities for the students such as complete the following table. The students were very interested in doing the activities and they completed all of it within the time. I conclude the lesson by summarizing the main points or playing videos. At the end of each class I asked review questions and gave a follow up activity for them. in the first day I was very tensed but after taking to classes I became confident. I could manage the class very well. but I want to improve my language efficiency and I should give more concern to the time management. In majority classes I could achieve the specified learning objectives. The teachers of the     St. Thomas school observed my class and made valuable remarks.

 PEER TEACHING

Peer teaching is a teaching and learning strategy were students teach other students. Peer teaching has a great role and importance in the teacher education program. Through peer teaching students receive more time for individualized learning. Direct interaction between students promote active learning. Peer teaching reinforces their own learning by instructing the peers. Students feel more comfort and open when interacting with the peers. As per the instruction of university of Kerala our second phase teaching practice were started with peer teaching.

The peer teaching started on 25 january,2021. I thought the lessons from the VIII standard S C E R T biology text book. I taught the lessons food security, crisis in the field of agriculture, fertile soil, microbial fertilizer and IPM. I prepared various learning aids. At the first class I became little bit nervous and some mistakes were made. from the next class onward I taught the confidently. I improved my language ability and time management.
